Location: Napa, CA
Work Schedule: Full-time 80 - Bi-Weekly Hours
Shift: 8-hour, Day
Provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families.
The Patient Safety Manager (PSM) will have primary oversight over QVMC's acute care facility-wide patient safety program. The PSM will facilitate teams towards process improvements which support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. The PSM provides leadership with safety assessments, coordinates the activities of high reliability, educates on the system-based causes for critical, sentential or high harm events. The PSM consults with management and staff and communicates literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others within the organization to facilitate creating a culture of safety for QVMC. The PSM is responsible for working collaboratively with clinical leaders and medical staff for the purpose of measurably improving patient safety and reducing patient harm/errors. This requires the systematic implementation of effective, reliable care practices and developing an appropriate institutional patient safety culture. The PSM will also assist/co-lead Accreditation by supporting on-site surveys and investigations, such as Joint Commission, California Department of Health (CDPH), etc. and fill in during absences of the Director of Clinical Excellence. The PSM will facilitate the good catch committee and participate in other committees as assigned to help ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Nursing or 4 additional years of related experience.
1 year Recent experience in nursing;
5 years Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California or other clinical field requiring licensure issued by the State of California.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Healthcare related field such as nursing, pharmacy or ancillary clinical service.
2 years preferred Recent experience in nursing
Management experience and/or experience with risk and the implementation of HPI and cause analysis.
Experience in healthcare quality, accreditation, and/or patient safety.
Additional certifications; may be required, based on assigned work area(s).
