Senior Managing EA - Consumer Portfolio




Summary


Develop and maintain Enterprise Architecture capabilities in line with the Enterprise Architecture strategy and Operating Model. Contribute to the EA team's growth and development and EA’s capability maturity roadmap. Collaborate with domain technology leadership to create an end-to-end vision for the overall technology landscape for a targeted domain as well as how it connects to the broader enterprise technology landscape, including aligning to the Enterprise Architecture standard.


Responsibilities


  • Understand both enterprise and domain vision and roadmap, and articulate their implication to the technology capabilities, and overall technology landscape for that specific domain
  • Support alignment of architectural / technology principles and standards for domain with enterprise guidance
  • Identify, analyze, review, and evaluate ideas and opportunities to support the product roadmap with technologies for the targeted domain
  • Participate in the planning and execution of strategic initiatives that require architecture guidance
  • Provide architectural oversight within the domain / function across architecture areas – application, data, Cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integration
  • Develop domain-specific technology / architecture roadmaps based on specific needs
  • Provide overall guidance / direction and collaborate in development of any needed domain-specific architecture future state
  • Conduct analysis to determine best path / opportunities for solving domain problems that may include new products, new platforms, or system enhancements.
  • Engage with initiative delivery teams to communicate and promote alignment with the domain architecture
  • Consult with delivery teams regarding the most critical or complex domain architecture areas
  • Participate in and support the governance process including artifact reviews, presenting to the Architecture Peer Review Group and the Architecture Review Board to ensure compliance
  • Understand business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding enterprise systems and application and gaps to drive future state roadmap
  • Contribute to reference architecture patterns
  • Provide consulting support to solution architects and technology teams within initiatives to ensure the initiative is aligned with overall enterprise architecture
  • Understand cybersecurity principles; identify and address impacts to ensure solutions comply with best practices
  • Understand corporate technology standards and ensure solutions fully comply; recommend exceptions where appropriate
  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies and determine their potential impact on the domain
  • Identify the principles, guidelines, standards, and patterns related to assigned domain to ensure decisions are aligned with the enterprise’s technology future-state architecture vision
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of new enterprise software product and platforms
  • Document all Enterprise Architecture conceptual and logical designs leveraging appropriate Enterprise Architecture tools
  • Understand and adhere to M&T’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the company’s risk appetite; identify risk-related issues needing escalation
  • Support interactions with suppliers, partners contracts
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Support career development to other Enterprise Architects based on regular 1:1 meeting
  • Manage budgets and contracts
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Required Skills


  • Knowledge of core banking platforms, branch and teller platforms, mortgage lending, customer service systems, card, payments, web/mobile channels
  • Knowledge of small business & business processes

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years’ operational/technical experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 12 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 8 years’ operational/technical experience or equivalent


  • A minimum of 10 years’ operational/technical experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 14 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 10 years’ operational/technical experience or equivalent
  • Experience working in two or more technical roles related to consumer banking

Preferred Education


  • Relevant certification(s) in Enterprise Architecture discipline, or other domain-relevant disciplines
  • Graduate degree in a business or technical discipline

Preferred Experience


  • Experience working in financial services industry in a consumer/retail domain
  • Experience in driving and delivering innovation within the realm of consumer banking
  • Experience in at least two Information Technology solution development disciplines, including technical architecture, infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity, database management or Information Technology (IT) operations
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
