Position Description Electronic Surveillance Service Engineer - Norfolk, VA (50% Travel) - SECRET Clearance Required In support of the program's mission, Serco is looking for a Electronic Surveillance Service Engineer. This is a telecommute position, but you will be required to report onsite daily. This position is based out of Norfolk, VA. Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific, Security Systems Branch performs the procurement, installation, integration, testing and life cycle sustainment of Naval Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Electronic Surveillance Systems (ESS) at shore installations throughout the world. Systems/equipment and services are defined as equipment and/or systems that facilitate the detection, delay, deterrence, assessment, and response to terrorist events. Sustainment services include preventive and corrective maintenance, interoperability, maintenance planning, supply/logistics support, testing and evaluation, reliability and maintainability, and configuration management. In this role you will: * Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment, products and systems including but not limited to Physical Security/Access Control, Automated Vehicle Gates and Barriers, Automated Personnel Turnstiles, Intrusion Detection, Mass Notification and Giant/Indoor Voice, CCTV Surveillance and Recording systems as controlled by Emergency Operations Centers, Regional and Local Dispatch Centers, and Navy Munitions Commands * Identify faults, analyze mechanical and electrical failures, fault isolate network issues and order and replace defective parts and modules as required. * Recommend equipment product or services best suited to fit the customers' needs * Relies on experience and judgement, reaches out to technical leadership, and exhibits a wide degree of creativity and latitude to plan and accomplish assigned tasks. * Communicates effectively with Customers, other Serco Team Members, and Sub Contractors to offer solutions * Creates and composes detailed work logs and performs daily trip reports of equipment and system statuses Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must have the following: * Requires a bachelor's degree and 4 years' experience OR a HS Diploma with 6 years' experience in the related field. * An active DoD Secret level clearance. This position requires the ability to access confidential/classified areas. * Qualified candidate must be able to travel locally to the Norfolk and surrounding Navy bases, in addition to a minimum of 50% or more of long-distance travel to other Navy bases and reserve facilities. * The candidate will need a very good technical background, an excellent mechanical aptitude, the ability to read, interpret and red line schematic diagrams, perform critical thinking decision making, and have the ability to communicate effectively with various team members, customers, vendors, and leadership.
