Safety Tech - Port Lavaca, TX

Turner Industries Group is looking for an experienced Safety Tech for full time maintenance position in Point Comfort, TX.

  • 40 Hours-NO PER DIEM
  • Overtime as needed
  • 3 to 5 years experience minimum
  • Power Point, Excel, Outlook
  • Must be able to pass drug screen
  • TWIC required
  • Must have valid drivers license

NO per diem or relocation available for this position; the successful candidate will be a current resident in/near the area.


General Job Description:

Assists in the administration and overall supervision of project safety and accident and fire protection programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Functional Requirements:

Conducts regular walk through inspections of construction areas; identifies, documents and recommends resolutions of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions and follows through to ensure that corrections have been made; documents and investigates all accidents, safety violations and other unsafe conditions or activities; compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports according to corporate procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with accidents; issues various entry permits (i.e. to confined spaces) as required; assists in emergency rescues as required; assists in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems; assists in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with training programs.

Qualification Standards:

  • Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience
  • Job site safety requirements (Turner FR Jumpsuit, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others at the work place

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Mental Involvement:

May be required to do the following; following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical skills; following oral/or written directions; knowledge of federal, state and corporate safety standards and regulations; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report safety hazards etc.; standing; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or office environment
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
