Home Health Aide - Signing in bonus
General Purpose:
To provide personal care and incidental/instrumental activities of daily living as assigned to patients/clients in the home setting as permitted by the policies and procedures of the Home Care Agency and any other federal, state and local law or regulation.
Essential Functions:
- Assist, perform and train patient/client and family in activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, toileting and elimination and adequate nutritional intake.
- Promote safe environment and maintain unobstructed pathways while providing care.
- Assist with ambulation, transfers and/or range of motion exercises.
- Assist with incidental/instrumental activities of daily living such as shopping, meal preparation, socialization activities, homemaking and maintaining a clean and safe physical environment and medication reminding.
- Utilize infection control measures such as universal precautions, hand washing, and personal protective equipment.
- Recognize, document and report changes in patient/client condition and safety to supervisor.
- Organize self to carry out visits/shifts and tasks.
- Completes other assignments as requested and assigned.
- May have access to personal health information (“PHI”) necessary to fulfill the above duties and responsibilities. Access to use and ability to disclose PHI is further defined by each organization/department.
The Interim HealthCare Staffing Home Health Aide MAY NOT:
- Perform any skilled nursing procedure, which is prohibited by the State Nurse Practice Act, law or regulation.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Graduate of a training and competency program or competency program as required by State and Federal Regulations and one (1) year of experience as a home health aide or as required by contractor.
- Evidence of current Basic Life Support (BLS) training including infants, children and adults preferred or as required by contractor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Proof of valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance where required by State regulations if assignment(s) include driving vehicle.
- Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks or functions.
- Meets applicable health requirements to provide patient care.
- Able to effectively communicate with clinical and non-clinical individuals.
- Maintain required inservice training.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort:
- Work is normally performed in patient homes and may involve occasional exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens and/or potentially infectious or hazardous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment (e.g. face masks, goggles, latex and or non-latex gloves).
- Medium physical activity that may require frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to lift, reposition, and transfer clients/patients.
- Ability to carry bundles such as groceries and laundry up or down stairs and lift with or without assistance.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel and reach freely and assist clients with standing and walking.
- Ability to hear, speak and write in a manner understood by most people.
- Ability to grasp with thumb in opposition to fingers of palm (i.e. DME supplies, knobs or objects).
- Ability to read 8 point or larger type.
- Ability to travel from patient to patient as needed.
