La Jolla Vein & Vascular is looking for a Registered Vascular Technologist to join our awesome team of RVTs, physicians (vascular surgeon, Interventional Radiologist, Phlebologist)!


La Jolla Vein & Vascular is one of Southern California’s only accredited vein and vascular center by the Intersocietal Accreditation Committee. We are seeking an experienced Vascular Ultrasound Technologist to join our dynamic team. The applicant should have at least 1-2 years of employed experience performing venous reflux studies and knowledgeable about performing studies in both the standing position and reverse Trendelenburg. Proficiency in rule out DVT studies and mapping venous anatomy, is also required. Although our predominant work is with lower extremity veins, technical proficiency and knowledge is required of LE arterial duplex studies, ABI, carotids, and full array of vascular exams are performed in our lab. Knowledge of EVLT, RFA, Clarivein, Varithena and ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy is a plus. Must be a graduate of an accredited ultrasound program (Vascular focused preferred) RVT or RVS credentialed by ARDMS or CCI. RPhS certification is a bonus. Our center trains other physicians and proficiency is a must.


Schedule: La Jolla Vein & Vascular is open daily, Monday through Friday. There are no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements. We are also closed most major holidays. We are conveniently located off the Interstate 5 freeway at our main location but have satellite clinics about 20 minute drives from main location.


Duties & Responsibilities:

The Vascular sonographer will be responsible for:

  • Proficiently performing lower extremity venous exams for patency and venous insufficiency studies for reflux.
  • Review images via our cloud based PACS system and write professional preliminary reports for the reading physician. Ability to relay abnormal results to ordering physician and reading physician.
  • Additional responsibilities are: maintaining a clean workspace, and ultrasound scanning area. Collaborating with other sonographers, maintaining a professional attitude with all coworkers and patients.
  • Explaining the exam to the patient and kindly answering any questions they may have.
  • Able to perform other vascular studies such as ABI, LE Arterial, Carotid, AAA.
  • Notify consulting physician of any unusual or abnormal reports. Ensures that complete, accurate, and timely reports and billing is submitted.
  • Follow the policy and protocols to be compliant with the ICAVL (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Vascular Testing).
  • Must have a friendly positive attitude, and a team player mentality.
  • Assist lead sonographer as needed.
  • Travel to satellite clinics may be required.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from ARDMS or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) from CCI
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination
  • Great attitude along with people skills
  • Attention to detail


Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
